This chisel sharpening kit is insanely good quality. It is super solid and very well thought out of, with a lot of conveniences built-in for an easier time at getting consistent sharpening results. Admittedly it takes a bit of time to work out initially how to properly use it, but once you understand the gist of it (which isn't too hard to do in my opinion) it becomes something very easy to use.

No, the kit does not include whetstones or sharpening blocks. But as long as you have one that is large enough for the wheels to roll on (so ideally not those camping/travel portable diamond sharpening blocks that are less than 1 inch wide) but more standard sized whetstones, these will work perfect.

Just note that, although these are very versatile in terms of sharpening angle and chisel width, a lot of basic craft carving chisels will not be super compatible just because those chisels are a bit too short to fit properly.

Sharpening chisels and planes is a chore. It can be a zen experience if you get it right, but most of the time, I just get things "mostly sharp" when I'm doing it by hand. I know that woodworkers are next level with your hand sharpening game, but I have found the easiest and most effective way for me is using sharpening jigs.

I sharpened two chisels so far with this jig and found it to be good quality. You can get your chisels and blades to the "scary sharp" (i.e., pushes right through paper) stage with one of these jigs. The jaws that hold the chisel are perfectly aligned and help keep the chisel flat so that it is perfectly sharpened. The brass wheels are a concern for me being soft metal, if the wheel should jam or hang up, they could easily become unevenly worn down affecting the sharpening process. I had no problems with the wheels jamming up and they continued to roll freely throughout the sharpening process. I did keep an eye on them though to make sure they continue to roll freely and wipe the brass wheels clean of grit periodically and at the end of the sharpening process before putting the jig away. I would like to see the brass wheels replaced by hardened steel bearings

What I like to do is use wet/dry sandpaper spray-glued onto glass plates. I then step through all the grits (well, I usually start at 400 unless there's a chip or something). I go all the way to 3000 grit, then I bust out my leather strop and polish it to remove any burr and make it look like a piece of art. Nothing better than seeing those tissue paper thin sheets coming out the back of your planer.

This thing can handle every size chisel and planer blade I have, including my 1/4 inch chisel. Most can't handle the 1/4 inch, so I have to award this a 5 out of 5. It's fantastic

When the edges of your tools get damaged, I find I have to remove the imperfections first with a grinding wheel and then bring it to the sharpening jig to re-create the proper angle.
With this tool, I was able to put a double angle edge for fine work - a flatter angle for the bulk of the chisel for example and at the very end, a steep and shorter edge for quick grip in wood.

The set up works well and is easy to use, except that changing between chisel blades and plane blades widths requires the roller positions to be changed using an Allen key (thoughtfully clipped to the side of the unit) which is fiddly.

This chisel sharpening kit from HONGDUI is a heavy duty and well made tool. This came with 2 spare rollers, 4 extra rubber inserts and an easy to use sharpening angle gauge. Everything needed but a set of printed instruction, which were found online. It was this lack of printed instructions which lead to the 1/2 star downgrade.
Handed this to my nephew who has been doing wood crafting as a hobby and side business. The arrival of this was well timed as some of his chisels were becoming in need of attention to their sharpness and overall edge condition. After locating instructions to doubly ensure the proper setup and use, it took him all of 30 seconds to set up a planer blade. He liked that the sharpener was ready to **** down to a surface for stability and safe use. This held the blade firmly and securely and resulted in an accurate grind.
Outside of the lack of instructions, this is a top notch sharpening kit. This would be useful to anyone sharpening chisels or planes.
